Thank you for reading the first edition of The Writer! It’s been such a fun and wacky process building a new literary journal from the ground up, but we hope you had as much fun reading it as we had creating it. Something we like to do here in the editorial room is speak directly to our readers. It’s not often that an online literary journal talks to you, but hey—this month is all about trying something new.
This is a new journal run by a new student organization, the Texas Writing Society. We’ve created new opportunities for students to share their writing, and have made so many new memories together. By embracing novelty, I hope that this journal inspires you to try something new. Go out and do something that’s never been done before—if anyone can do it, it might as well be you.
Peace + Spacetime,
-Chinonso
Editor in Chief
Wait, who says only you get to write letters from the editors?
-Ella
Well, I am the editor-in-chief…
-Chinonso
But it’s letters from the editorS, not editor. You should know your plurals by now.
-Ella
Okay, well “letters from the editors” rings a lot better than “letter from the editor”
-Chinonso
I’d say they ring about the same. And whose idea was it to use Comic Sans for this?
-Harry
I abhor Comic Sans. A professional font like Georgia is best for a professional journal like this one.
- Katie
Thanks for reading! Signing off,
-Ella, Alyssa, Selvia, Kayla, Katie, and the rest of the Editorial Team
